Good social site but not for me

I’ve just logged out and deleted most of my posts. I had turned off Notifications but am still receiving them (in my e-mail!) of someone commenting on someone else’s photo. Why? Facebook used to do this but fortunately I disabled Notifications on that one. I’m using way too much social media anyway...
